Mapping of wheat lodging susceptibility with synthetic aperture radar data

چکیده
Crop lodging reduces yield quantity and grain quality of cereal crops. Understanding seasonal variation in crop susceptibility enables risk assessments predictions associated losses. We demonstrate a novel remote sensing-based approach, using sparse field observations widely available synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite imagery, to map safety factor against root (SFA) wheat. SFA quantifies the ability rooting system support self-weight moment whole plant can be used as an indicator in-season susceptibility. SAR images, from Sentinel-1 RADARSAT-2, were acquired synchronously with measurements Jolanda di Savoia, Ferrara, Italy during 2018 winter wheat growing season. The data included non-lodged (healthy) such height, height at centre gravity, plant, soil anchorage strength, those lodged angle inclination, area point failure (stem or root). Field confirmed that decreased progressively through season was consistent observed lodging. Strong significant correlations between image metrics. validated regression models showed strong relationship field-measured metrics RADARSAT-2 (R2CV = 0.84, RMSECV 0.54) 0.73, 0.59). However, it is possible parameters confounded by variations biomass, which highly correlated (r ?0.71, p < 0.0001). Our study, for first time, demonstrates use sensing assessment. Current planned platforms have potential large scale, operational assessment

Wind Energy Mapping Using Synthetic Aperture Radar
Wind energy off-shore is gaining much interest due to the high wind power potentials. The need is to map wind climatology and regional wind patterns in coastal regions. In the WEMSAR (Wind Energy Mapping using Synthetic Aperture Radar) project three European sites will be covered near Norway, Denmark and Italy. Data to be used are from the ERS-2 C-band scatterometer with a 50 km resolution, fro...

Using advanced SAR data from the Danish airborne SAR, EMISAR, a research project was initiated in 1998 as a collaboration between the Technical University of Denmark and the Danish National Survey and Cadastre to investigate the potential of using SAR data for production and updating of cartographic maps. The ultimate objective of the research is to be able to perform quickly and efficiently co...
متن کاملSegmentation of polarimetric synthetic aperture radar data
A statistical image model is proposed for segmenting polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data into regions of homogeneous and similar polarimetric backscatter characteristics. A model for the conditional distribution of the polarimetric complex data is combined with a Markov random field representation for the distribution of the region labels to obtain the posterior distribution. Optim...
متن کاملMapping ice-shelf flow with interferometric synthetic aperture radar stacking
Interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) observations of ice-shelf flow contain ocean-tide and atmospheric-pressure signals. A model-based correction can be applied, but this method is limited by its dependency upon model accuracy, which in remote regions can be uncertain. Here we describe a method to determine two-dimensional ice-shelf flow vectors independently of model predictions of...
